When Sylvester, a winsome young donkey, picks up a shiny red pebble, its magic spins a heart-warming story that reveals to him the true importance of family and friends. With life-size puppets, masked actors, magical illusions, innovative sets and costumes, and original musical score, Enchantment Theatre transforms this Caldecott Medal-winning book into a delightful adaptation for the stage. Who will love Sylvester? Everyone from young children all the way up to their grandparents – anyone who believes in happy endings and that there is no place like home.
Enchantment Theatre Company has produced original theater for school groups and families since 2000, when it was established as a non-profit arts organization in Philadelphia. The company presents only original work based on classic stories from children's literature, using its signature blend of masked actors, pantomime, magic, large-scale puppets, and original music. Building on the more than 30 years of theatrical experience of its artistic directors, Enchantment has quickly become known for high quality imaginative productions, not only in its home city but throughout the United States and the Far East.

Arts Power National Touring Theatre is proud to announce the winter 2012 national tour of Are You My Mother?, an original musical based on P.D. Eastman's enduring children's classic.
Arts Power's musical begins when Baby Bird hatches from her egg only to find an empty nest. Unaware that her mother has left to find food, Baby Bird decides to leave the nest to look for her; along the way, she meets an array of colorful characters who help and advise her. Persistent Baby Bird is determined to find her mother no matter what.
Are You My Mother? features a rich, upbeat musical score and imaginative sets. Greg Gunning, Arts Power's Artistic Director, adapted and directed the show and wrote the lyrics. Richard DeRosa wrote and orchestrated the musical score.
Mark and Gary Blackman founded ArtsPower in 1985 and have been steering its course ever since. ArtsPower has grown into one of America's largest and most active producers of professional theatre for young and family audiences. Its 26 professional touring productions have been seen by nine million people in 46 states - from Alaska to Florida - in some of the nation's top regional theatres, university auditoriums, and cultural centers, including The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and Lincoln Center in New York.

When a great African king desires a wife, only the most perfect maidens in the land are invited to meet him.
