Exploring Clay

East Hill Gallery at the Folk Art Guild in Middlesex NY features new works by residents from around the country and China at its show, “Exploring Clay” through August 23. Experimenting with clay dug from the Guild’s pond, Chinese sculptor student, Jufong, fashions small human figures from the rich, red, local material. Other apprentices who live and work at the Guild, will share their diversity with olive oil containers, tea bowls and covered jars. Traditional leaf impressions, brush work and carving will grace the functional stoneware the pottery studio is well known for as well as its celadon and shino glazed porcelain and sawdust fired earthenware, East Hill Gallery is open through October 11 on Fridays, Sundays and Mondays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm and Saturdays from 11:00am to 5:00pm or by appointment at 585-554-3539.
