Summer History Camp at Rose Hill Mansion
History: Summer History Camp at Rose Hill Mansion
This summer the Geneva Historical Society will hold Summer History Camp at Rose Hill Mansion for children who have completed grades 3, 4, 5 or 6. The camp will run from 9am to 3pm, Monday through Friday during two separate weeks, July 19-23 or July 26-30. Children may register for either week. Campers will discover how we learn about the past, and participate in activities based on 19th-century practices and techniques. There will also be occasional guest presenters to demonstrate historic crafts or skills related to life in the Finger Lakes area during the 1800s. Topics that may be included in the week’s activities are: fiber, textiles and clothing; food production and preparation; games; archaeology; architecture and building; and music. The camp costs $130 for one week for children or grandchildren of Society members and $145 for nonmembers. Some financial assistance is available for families with demonstrated need. Pre-registration is required. For more information about the camp or to register, call the Historical Society at 315-789-5151.
